J-HOUSE

Seoul, South Korea

7,000 sqft

Mixed-use | Commercial + Residential

The J House unfolds as a vertical sequence of living and making, designed for a jewelry designer with a singular vision. From a ground-floor café to upper-level workshops and a private residence above, the program stacks with clarity, each layer reinforcing the next. In contrast to prevailing warmth, the project leans deliberately cold—defined by tension, restraint, and a sharpened material language.

A continuous wash of deep black anchors every level, setting up a precise contrast against leather textures, animal prints, and curated vintage elements. The effect is controlled yet expressive, where each insertion reads as intentional rather than decorative. The fourth-floor residence, captured here, distills the narrative most clearly—less about comfort than attitude, where contrast becomes both atmosphere and identity.
